What exactly is a free walking tour?
A free walking tour is a guided tour based on a “pay what you want” model. There’s no fixed price upfront; at the end of the tour, you decide what the guide’s work was worth based on how much you enjoyed it and your budget.
Do I need to book?
Yes, it’s strongly recommended. You can try to join at the meeting point, but spots are limited to keep the group size manageable. Booking guarantees your place and lets us contact you if there are any last-minute changes.
How much should I pay at the end?
There’s no set rate. Some travelers give €10, others €20 or more. What matters is that your contribution reflects how much you valued the experience and the guide’s effort to show you the city’s secrets.
What happens if it rains?
The tour goes ahead! Our guides are ready for rain, snow or sunshine. We would only cancel in extreme weather that puts people’s safety at risk, and in that case we’d let you know right away.

Why choose a paid or private tour?
Unlike the free walking tour, these tours offer:
- Small or private groups just for your family or friends.
- Entry to monuments or interiors, with tickets included.
- Specific themes (food, in-depth history, night tours).
- Flexible schedules and a much more personal service.
How do I get my tickets?
Once you’ve paid on the website, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your voucher. There’s no need to print it; just show it to the guide on your phone.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand plans change. For most of our paid tours:
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour (check the specific conditions for each tour).
- If you cancel after that or don’t show up, we can’t offer a refund.

Free walking tours can be cancelled for FREE! We do appreciate it if you let us know in advance, though, so we can plan, offer your spots to other people and avoid keeping the group waiting.

How do I recognize the guide?
Our guides usually carry a purple umbrella. You’ll get the exact meeting point details and how to spot your guide in your booking email.
Are the tours suitable for people with reduced mobility?
We try to make our routes as accessible as possible. However, some historic areas have cobblestones or stairs. If you have special needs, contact us before booking so we can recommend the best option.
Are pets allowed?
On outdoor walking tours, pets are welcome! Keep in mind that if the tour includes entry to a building or museum, animals probably won’t be allowed in (except guide dogs).
